This another one of my hobbys. I had a multiple rc planes, until I crashed them.
The History of Planes
People dreamed about flying for thousands of years. Once the first airplane flew, it took only 66 years to land on the Moon.
- 1783: The Montgolfier brothers' hot air balloon carried people into the sky over Paris. It was the first time humans flew.
- 1903: Orville and Wilbur Wright flew the first powered airplane at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The first flight lasted 12 seconds and went 120 feet.
- 1927: Charles Lindbergh flew alone from New York to Paris without stopping. It took about 33 and a half hours.
- 1939: The German Heinkel He 178 became the first airplane to fly with a jet engine.
- 1947: Chuck Yeager flew the Bell X-1 faster than the speed of sound.
- 1969: The Boeing 747 "jumbo jet" and the supersonic Concorde both flew for the first time.
The History of RC Planes
- 1898: Nikola Tesla showed off a boat he could steer with radio waves. It was one of the first radio-controlled machines.
- 1937: Twin brothers Walt and Bill Good flew the "Guff", one of the first successful radio-controlled model airplanes.
- 2000s: Lightweight batteries and small electric motors made RC planes cheaper and easier to fly, so a lot more people got into the hobby.
